Gingerbread Friends by Jan Brett
This book, by the author of “the Mitten,” tells the story of a lonely Gingerbread Baby who goes to a bakery to make friends and ends up leading a crowd back to his house on a chase similar to the one in the familiar tale.
On Meadowview Street by Henry Cole
Upon moving to a new house, Caroline and her parents encourage wildflowers to grow and birds and animals to stay in their yard, which soon has the whole suburban street living up to its name! Lovely illustrations show the transition from a trim suburban lawn to a nature preserve exploding with life and color. Highly recommended!
