LUNCH IN THE RACOON'S DEN **2022-2023 UPDATES PENDING**

Examples of all of these roles are provided in the videos to the left

  • Card station monitor/ basket distributor - ensure that kids sanitize hands at the sanitization station on the way into the MPR, line up on the black line and collect their card one at a time.  Then help kids put card in correct paper "basket" (lunch, extras, milk/ drink, voucher), hand out baskets and help kids know what is being offered.  Plus monitor the drinking fountain area for kids to be lined up correctly, taking turns and to ask for help from others if any water is spilled or other issues. Between service this volunteer should make certain they have enough plastic tray baskets with paper liners ready for the next service and also pop over to the garbage cans to support table dismissal and food disposal.
    • Note: kids line up on the black line in the MPR and should grab their card one at a time when they get to the end of the line
  • Utensils & napkin and plus salad bar monitor - per health regulations kids are not to reach in and grab their own grab the utensils or fruit so it must be handed to them.  The Kindergarteners also need help with putting their milk on their tray.  Between service this volunteer should make more napkin-utensil rolls, monitor the salad bar to ensure kids are remaining safe and pop over to the garbage cans to support table dismissal and food disposal.
  • Both volunteers are asked to
    • At the end of each lunch service stand near the garbage cans to support table dismissal and food disposal.  Key things to watch for are (1) that utensils and baskets are not thrown into the garbage cans and (2) that waste is put into the correct bins
    • Remove all the trays from the salad bar and wipe the salad bar down at the end of the shift.

*** UPDATES PENDING - PRE 2022-2023 DETAILS***

Sodexo will create lunch entrees for our kids, but they do need the help of parent volunteers to make it all possible.

Parents volunteers assist the kids with the lunch choices, and answer any questions kids may have.  Your time and help are both necessary and very appreciated! This is a great opportunity to team up with your buddy (two volunteers per shift) and spend a couple hours together.

No experience is necessary, but you will need to have TB clearance* (see below for details).

Once you’ve sign up for a date, please do not remove yourself from the calendar. If you are unable to fulfill your schedule, please find someone else to swap or sub and let the office know who the replacement volunteer is.

If you have a last minute emergency or illness and can’t cover your Hot Lunch duty, please contact the office at (925) 258-0016.

Thanks again for volunteering!

TB TESTING

TB TESTING

The screening is valid for four years. if you have volunteered in prior years, and an update is needed, we will let you know. Look for the notice in your Registration/Teacher's Assignment Package you will receive at Jumpstart.

If Wagner Ranch does not have a copy of your current TB clearance, please provide the current documentation to the office.

OUSD facilitated TB screening at Wagner Ranch and other district schools will be scheduled for late Aug or early Sept.  Dates will be provided around the start of the school year.  You can also obtain testing via other facilities such as your doctors office or a clinic.

The Contra Costa Health Department requires all volunteers in school, including those working in the Raccoon's Den, to show they are free of communicable tuberculosis (TB). TB screening consists of a questionnaire and, potentially, a PPD skin test. It is the responsibility of each volunteer to provide the school with proof of a negative PPD skin test. TB screening results are valid for four years after your TB test. If you have any questions about TB screening, please contact the office or the Orinda Union School District office (925) 254-4901.
