Character Education

Second Step
Second Step teaches children to think about other people’s feelings, to solve problems cooperatively, to identify and prevent bullying behavior, self protection skills, and to manage their anger in a positive way. It also provides age appropriate information about drugs, alcohol and tobacco to fourth and fifth grade students. This program is taught in grades K - 5 by the classroom teacher.

Character Education
Developing students’ character, compassion, and self esteem is a vital component of our school’s mission. Over the course of the year we focus on life skills including: respect, responsibility, positive attitude, self discipline, and honesty.  Some of the character building activities include classroom curriculum, signage around the campus, big/little buddy class activities, special assemblies, and service learning opportunities for 4th and 5th graders.
